Each article includes helpful charts and tables of important dates and timing for planetary movements as well as colorful images for the planets’ glyphs and symbols.

Extensive Lists of Additional Astrology Resources

Purple Jupiter planet symbol by Anne Nordhaus-Bike
At the end of the first two articles, you’ll find extensive lists of astrological resources–including articles, blog posts, artwork, FAQs, audio recordings, and videos–that can help you learn more about your Sun sign, your chart, and many, many other facets of astrology.

Part 1 has resources about the Sun, the 12 Zodiac Signs, the Equinoxes, the Solstices, the end of the astrological year, the start of the new astrological year, the Moon, Mercury, and general astrology.

Part 2 has resources about Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.

These dates are approximate because the Sun’s movement into the signs varies every year. So if you were born within two days of the start date of a particular Sun sign, it’s a good idea to obtain a copy of your astrological birth chart to confirm which sign the Sun actually occupied when you were born.

You can get a free copy of your birth chart if you have the exact date, time, and place of your birth. Go to our birth chart calculator now to get yours.

Starting to Read Your Chart

After you supply your information, a page displaying your birth (or “natal”) chart will appear and will look similar to this birth chart calculated for social work leader Jane Addams:

Jane Addams birth chart

Within Addams’s chart, find the circle with a dot in it (the astrological symbol for the Sun), which appears toward the left. As you can see, her Sun is in the sign of Virgo, which looks like an M with a loop on the right side.

Now do the same for your own chart. Use the tables below to see which sign the Sun occupies in your chart; you also can use them to see what signs the other planets occupied when you were born.
